Capabilities

CNC Turning and CNC Milling
Ontario Drive and Gear - CNC Turning and CNC Milling
ODG is equipped with a variety of CNC lathes optimized to turn forgings and castings weighing up to 70 lbs, and bar stock ranging from ½ inch to 16 inches in diameter.

Smaller parts can be turned with lathes that have 2.5” bar feeders attached, and those requiring additional holes or milling are turned with a 3-axis lathe. When increased flexibility is needed, we have double and single-spindle lathes, capable of turning parts over 16 inches in diameter.

ODG recognizes that high quality gear blanks are a key ingredient to making good quality gears.
CNC Gear Cutting
Ontario Drive and Gear - CNC Gear Cutting
ODG has invested heavily in CNC production gear equipment. We have Liebherr 382 CNC Gearhobbers fully equipped with an automatic loading and skiving attachment. This gives us the flexibility to gear cut or skive small to medium volume gears up to 16 inches in diameter and 3DP to AGMA 10 or better. For parts as small as ¾ inches in diameter and 32 DP, we use the Koepfer 200 CNC Gearhobber, which is also equipped with full automation and the ability to skive parts. Internal CNC shaping up to 500mm (20 inches), along with broaching, shaving, and rounding machines, complements our CNC Gear Cutters.
CNC Machine Centres
Ontario Drive and Gear - CNC Machine Centres
Three horizontal and two vertical CNC Machine Centres give us the flexibility to machine many gearbox housings, as well as necessary internal components. As the CNC Horizontal Machine Centres have a 2-pallet system, parts can be machined on one pallet, allowing parts to be loaded and unloaded on the other. This allows for continuous spindle operation and minimal downtime.
Transmission Assembly
Ontario Drive and Gear - Transmission Assembly
The fourth key area at the ODG Gear Division is our Transmission Assembly Department, where transmission components come together for assembly into gearboxes to meet our customers’ expectations. The transmissions are checked and tested to ensure that our customers receive reliable and durable transmissions, ready for installation in their particular equipment.
