The ARGO is the ideal vehicle for hilly climbs
The all-season amphibious ARGO is great for hilly terrain whether it be the winter or the summer. In fact, the ARGO’s high altitude performance was recently tested on one of the world’s highest volcanoes. On March 13, 2007 the Matthias Jeschke Extreme Driving Team reached an all-time high as they set the record for climbing the Ojos del Salado Volcano in Chile. Clearly then, the ARGO has considerable experience when it comes to hilly climbs. Due to its Rawhide III Goodyear or Runamuk tires with their aggressive tread pattern, the ARGO is able to scale all sorts of rugged landscapes.
A good example of the ARGOs dominance on hilly landscapes is the world renowned Rubicon Trail located in the California High Sierra Mountains. In both 2004 and 2005 a brave group of ARGO enthusiasts set out to see just exactly what the ARGOs were capable of. The Rubicon Trail is known as the ‘granddaddy of all off-highway trails’ and is approximately twelve miles of rocky, non-maintained El Dorado and Placer county roads. Along the way the group faced steep rock cliffs, challenging ravines and even a few bears which they managed to scare off with some pepper spray. Nevertheless the group completed the trip and proved beyond a doubt that the ARGO is the perfect vehicle for hilly terrain.
