Tackle the beach and the dunes in the Centaur or ARGO
Sand is another type of terrain in which the ARGO or Centaur is ideal. Whereas other ATV’s often fail to grip the sand and end up getting stuck, the ARGO and Centaur are consistently able to surmount the most challenging sand environments. Whether it be sand dunes, the beach or even the desert, these vehicles are the perfect fit.
An advocate of the ARGO’s versatility within the sand is Steve Townsend, who serves on the Ocean Beach Volunteer Life Saving Patrol in New Zealand. Steve explains his reasoning for purchasing an ARGO by stating, “We needed a vehicle that could move a large volume of equipment onto the beach and also a vehicle that could travel over soft sand whilst towing a boat. The ARGO could do both.” While apprehensive Ocean Beach residents were wary of Steve’s decision, after seeing the ARGO in action, “…officials were suitably impressed with its performance as an alternative to the current Patrol Quad motorcycles which always had their limitations.” Moreover, due to the ARGO and Centaur's low ground pressure, they have a minimal impact on the environment, no doubt a boon to those concerned with ecologically sensitive areas. Also, for those who want superior traction in the sand, the ARGO and Centaur are capable of being outfitted with an optional tread system.
